slice of life

in ft bragg stands a slice out of the biggest redwood felled in mendo county, back in the 40’s it were and they’ve got markers in its meat to show when important historical events took place during its unimaginably long life, which we cut short for this history lesson.
catching up

i usually don’t take pictures of people but this guy caught my eye - catching up with the news at the local coffeehouse in mendo
rusty nail

this was a thonged nail in a watertower next to a diner where we dined.
mendo skyline

health steeple

this was a church - now its the health food store in mendocino. it’s a town that photographs well at dusk.
grapelets

at navarro winery - a preview of the ‘10 pinot
fencing

mendocino again - a fence
from the edge, looking back

from the mendo headlands back toward the highway. yeah, i messed with the hue a little; it seemed washed out when i got it home. the colors out there stained your eyes like wine stains your tongue.
cliffs 2

a view of the headlands. folk kayak through the cavern; you can watch from the sinkhole above. also, a blowhole is developing on the outer face. as if they needed more of nature’s majesty.
carven

i prefer to think that the carving in the center reads “ED CK”. because that’s what folk carve in stuff. this, from the big cliffside bench in mendo.
