Oh man, I loved the Banana Splits. I got to see them live when I was like 6 and it was awesome. I have problems with the theme song too, usually in Dairy Queen!
The thing that still haunts me is Romper Room, that psycho lady and her magic mirror gave me the creeps. I was traumatized for weeks when she said she saw me!
I was a Banana Splits devotee as well. But somehow the only thing I recall about them (along, of course, with their ubiquitous song)is the open scene where they bobsled into view. Kinda psychedelic, weren’t they?

My first car accident was in a Pinto. It rolled into a ditch on my side and if the driver hadn’t pulled me to him I would have gone out that gigantic side window.

oh, man, that pinto! used to terrify me because i could see the street through cracks or gaps in the floor! remember the time we lost it at dodger stadium?? i can’t believe that he really claims it was one of the best cars he’s ever owned. oy!
Ew… I think I got some 70s on me! Get it off! Get it off! ;) JK. As a product of the 80s, (born in ‘76) I have nothing to gloat about.

and i have 2 - ok, actually 4 - words for you that sum up a great part of my experience of the 1970s : (1) erik, (2)estrada, (3) tom, and (4) wopat. yeah, not in the same show, or even on the same network i suspect. but still.
