sounds as if you had an excellent weekend!  any 48 hour period that can squeeze in beer, sunsets, eclectic movies and yuca, sounds like my kind of weekend.  although i’ll take a pass on the monkey-spit.

Thanks for sharing that lovely sunset. I needed that, even if it was a little chilly out there. And yucca is a yummy succulent, specially when combined with jicama… mostly because they’re fun words to say together. As for the biker bar, all I can think to add is that one should always use discretion when ordering drinks in such a place. You wouldn’t, for instance, want your well meaning but uninitiated friend to order a daiquiri, as it might require some fast talking on your part to keep both your friend and yourself in one piece. Eeep.

I was so skeptical about Donnie Darko, seeing as how 1/2 the people I know panned it and the other 1/2 have turned it into religion. I found myself somewhere in between. I really enjoyed it and loved being suspended there… where ever ‘there’ was and also taking away a hearty need to scoop up Jake Gyllenhal (I know that’s spelled wrong but am too lazy to google the proper spelling) in my arms and make him whole again. A task that I have tried so many times and failed at only… approximately 1,000 times. But anyhow, I was awed and refreshed and saddened and desperate… I hope that’s what you were SUPPOSED to feel like after ward. Otherwise, I guess I am dumb.

and you’re so much braver than me. I last entertained with snowman shaped pancakes—using a cookie cutter on the griddle. I cook for tamer (lamer?) audiences who would beat me soundly for serving up yuca. Not that I would ever be brave enough to try cooking it, anyway.

Darko is a great film. I have watched it countless times.  The mythology is much deeper than the film and a book has been written.  Amazon it.
