fickle, fickle man. you got to ride out the losing seasons my friend. they make the winning years that much better. i’m going on 22 years as a Cowboys fan. now that’s dedication because you know they’ve sucked for years. and so not in the good way i mean.
ach. don’t get me started on bad sports team names.
i learned last night that there is a mexican soccer team called the cement mixers. not a good name for a team in a sport that requires speed and agility.
other bad team names come from europe, where they seem not to have our affinity for names that inspire shock and awe. are opponents supposed to be afraid of the canaries, the parakeets, the toffees, the baggies, or the lambs? talk about girly!!
comparatively, the giants and the niners are the tough guys. or tough giners. whatever.
my favorite bad team name—the Lansing Lugnuts. they’re a 3A baseball team out of Michigan, i saw them play the South Bend Silver Hawks a few years back when i was visiting relatives in the mid-west.
and i agree with pea—you gotta ride out the losing seasons. and with the Niners, there have been an awful lot of those lately…
