Woah, oy, and wowzers - this is indeed momentous news. But lo and oh, I say unto you - what a wonderous and rewarding adventure you’re embarking on! Best of luck, my friend. And no problem on the harrassment. If you think you’re getting rid of me for all paternity, you, my good man, are seriously misthunked.

Will they be seeing you off at work with cupcakes or something? Just wondering, cuz I’m sort of hungry. And while I’m about asking silly questions… is ‘riebald’ a real word? It’s been stuck in my head all morning and I don’t know what the hell it means.

My husband took paternity leave with our oldest (now 10) AND KEPT A JOURNAL.  hE RECENTLY RE-read it, and it was hysterical.  So be sure and blog a little everyday(for us) and print it out (for you in the future).

Sorry about the caps problem-- trying to write- get one boy to basketball, stop one from tearing up the office etc etc.

Cool ... paternity leave—the good old days were never like this.

oh dan how exciting ! i hope these weeks give you and zach some magical time together.  :) outside of the diapers, i mean.  or, hey, inside of the diapers.  though i have to say that all the insides of diapers i’ve ever seen have been far from magical.  but hey, that’s me and this is you.  enjoy.

btw sawni : “ribald” is a word, and “piebald” is another one.  they’re both real.

i liked those ED murals!  my old office building looked out on them, but i hadn’t thought about them since i moved to a new building a few months back.  how sad to think that they’re now ruined, never to be enjoyed again.
