Oh Dan, I am like Kelly when it comes to Christmas.  It’s all about the friends and family and the sparkly fun and the big big love.  That just made me all squishy inside and that’s a very good way to feel.

Wonderful story, Dan.  I, too, love the spirit of the holiday season.  I love the family, and I love the friends.  I fear that too many people get lost in the responsibility of the (sometimes many) occasions, and forget that the spirit of the holidays is the true source of the happiness we feel.  I’ve started some traditions with friends and kept them up, and when I look back on years past, it’s those times I have loved the most.

"Her family was so far away.”

Actually, I bet if you ask her, she had all the family she needed, right there with you. Sure, she missed some folks, but I bet the only in-completeness would have been the season without you by her side.

Loved your story.
