and it’s because of days like that that i know i could never, ever, ever be homemade (as my boss’s kid calls stay at home mommies) mommy. i love, adore and cherish children, but too many of those days would drive me insane.

still, i do envy the fun you have with the boy.

That post should be required reading for everyone who is considering having a child.  That is the beautiful, demanding and unrelenting nature of parenthood.  As the kids get older the demands change but the unrelenting nature of it never really does and ya gotta make peace with that or it’s gonna be a long, long, looooooooong haul.

Blessings on you all!

Also, I’m here to tell you that, in general, the whole “working from home, your time is all your own” thing is a total myth, created by evil pantie eaters to lull you into a sense of impending leisurely accomplishment. And I don’t have an adorable midget to contend with. Welcome to reality, my friend - the show that never ends - come inside, come inside.

You know you want more than the weekage you’re allowed ...

OK, this post is making me feel *slightly* better about having to return to work 6 weeks after having my baby. As I get closer and closer to my due date (almost 3 weeks away!), I’m beginning to wish I could swing a longer maternity leave. But maybe I’ll need to come back to work so I can get some rest! :)

Hello!

I didn’t disappear. Well, I did. Had an exam to prepare for. But I am back! And will be reading all your posts and replying to the email later today!

I love it that you’re a father, Dan.  Selfishly, I love it because you’re able to put the eloquent words that make up the day of a dad into their correct order.

I especially like the “cough and sputtering awake” analogy that accurately describes how our kids wake up… much like a 1920’s car.

And yes, my desk at work is similarly more restful than anything I do at home, but only half as rewarding.

Keep up the fine work, Pops.

Brad hit the nail on the head—desk work is definitely more restful, but raising your children is SO much more rewarding. *repeat that to yourself in mantra-fashion when your child is screaming his head off whilst barely pausing for breath*
