I so love that you and I grew up at the same time in more or less the same place.  When I read these essays I’m always transported to my own memories of 1980 and my own Arby’s on Whittier Blvd.  I still have my Nikon EM and won’t be letting it go anytime soon.  How much do I LOVE that your boombox has a shortwave feature...you really need to investigate that!!

My first boombox had an 8 track player in it. Oh my, I may have dated myself with that admission.
