All those old fairytales were scary to the extreme, so the creepy granny is oddly appropriate! Only the Disneyfication of these horrible stories make them suitable for today’s kids.
Otherwise they’d turn out as messed up as I am!

honestly even disney originally made them pretty gruesome. There’s a warning outside the Sleeping Beauty ride - it’s not for the faint of heart. Then again, those german mutilation tales - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Struwwelpeter - man, that stuff still freaks me out. Nice to hear from you Dave!

They don’t call ‘em the Brothers Grimm for nothing!
Our daughter was fascinated with Hansel and Gretel, and demanded it night after night after night, even though she’d wake up scared half-way to morning and ask one of us to come sleep with her. Even when we pushed her toward something else, she’d come back to it.
Funny you mention Struwwelpeter, my husband, who’s German, always brings him up as the fairy tale character to fear. Those fingernails, yuk!!
Hope all is well in your world!
