But you don’t know it’s helping him.  So tell him to shut up unless you’re informed otherwise.  Ignorance is bliss.

so Kel is compassionate.. thinking it might be therapy for him rather than complaining bout her own discomfort.. and you have a generous spirit.. wanting to give him what he needs.. even at the price of sacrificing your own needs.. yet the courage to be honest with the fact that it anoys the piss out of you.

I think greg is right… at this point..the idea that you may be helping him is an assumption… and maybe if someone were courageous enough to be honest with his mother about the volume (not the activity) that he might learn to be as respectful of your needs as you are of his. Who says his needs outweigh yours… the balance is missing in this story.  Perhaps his mother doesn’t know about the volume… he only does it during her absence. And if you are afraid of losing your place to live.. then maybe a whole group of you could gracefully present the truth to her… cuz the truth is.. she doesn’t want to go through the headache of replacing you all.
