i admire your restraint.  i too have been tempted to kick the ass of the inappropriate elderly.  (that sentence sounds like it was translated on altavista, but you get the idea.)

I guess I’m the only one who is confused.  Was this guy picking a fight for any known reason? 

Believe me, I’ve seen the elderly step right to the front of a 15 person line, cut me off in traffic with their huge cars, and speak loudly about the “stupid kids today” but I’ve never been given the “I dare you to say something” brush back.

the old women in my ‘hood are very very dangerous when you’re in line.  People who like their kidneys are wise to let them board the bus first.  Usually the old guys aren’t as aggressive or nasty, but I think what was happening here was this: he was desparately clinging to a youthful persona, to impress a woman whom he desired.  That woman’s personality had curdled and she was looking for stuff to complain and snarl at, but she also perserved a sense of herself as very hot stuff.  I don’t know why she invaded my space like that but her having done so seems to infuriated her “friend,” who wasn’t getting the time of day from her.  Maybe she did it to make him jealous.  If so, I think it worked.

Well it’s “sangry” that I’ve fallen in love with today...I think I’m feeling a bit sangry myself lately.

I think the guy was her “enforcer.” Like in hockey.  Maybe she was looking to “score” and you were in the way.
