In times of emergency do not panic, take your neckwear and look for a safe escape path. Unfold the fabric of the tie or scarf to its widest dimension and place it on the face covering all portions of the nose and mouth. Hold the edges firmly against the skin as much as possible to create a good seal.  Continue breathing through the fabric and move to safety. Keep the fabric in place until you reach a safe place and/or can put on more effective airway protection.
