Required Reading

I’m gonna dump the crap I’m reading now.  Maxine Hong Kingston?  Sociology of suburbia?  Biography of a guitar god?  Passe’, all of it totally passe’.  I am now on the hunt for a book on Transcendental Dianetics, or anything else I can find by Ralph Waldo Elron.

If you could just dump Maxine into the bay, put a little sail on her and nudge her South so she ends up down here, I’d be much abliged and would be completely supportive of the idocy of your new quest.

Me too.  And have her cart along Dave Eggers while you’re at it.

it sounds like Jules wants some Kingston and Greg’s trying to dump the Eggers.  If I don’t malign myself too badly to say it, the Kingston I’m reading is Warrior Woman, and it’s quite good and a very fast read, but if that’s really what Chinese culture is like, damn, I can’t imagine how there got to be so many of them.  Guilt is like a food group for these people.

I go from reading nothing at all to inhaling a huge volume on the Civil War, complete with pictures and maps!

I’m not sure what that has to do with your dilemma, but . . . erm.
