Story of My Life

Growing up, my parents loved me so much that they tried to teach me the hard lessons, the ones that make for a hard childhood but an honest understanding of this cold world in which we live.  “Do it yourself - no one is going to help you.” “They don’t understand you and they never will.” “No good deed goes unpunished.” I’m still looking for that wonderful re-write of Dr. Seuss that they generated to help me internalize this philosophy - “Horton Hears Squat.”

that's just the way it seemed to me at 09:26 AM

Horten hears squat
as slowly his teeth rot
He won’t stop eating the candy
his life isn’t dandy
and all that he does is for naught.

um...wait..small edit

Horten hears squat
as his teeth slowly rot
won’t stop with the candy
his life isn’t dandy
and all that he does is for naught.

How did Mr. Ted do that shit?  Geeze

that’s why he’s a doctor.  nice work on the limricks though.  Let’s see:

Horton is lonely
He’s off on his only
where none of the others can see
that he’s making himself
into somebody else
so the rest of the world lets him be.

If I wasn’t suddenly so depressed I could kill myself, that’s not bad for extemporaneous verse.  Time to curl up under my desk and hide…

Parents are great, aren’t they?  I laughed out loud when I read your post.  Sounds familiar.
