To the Victors

If you get free tickets to great seats at a game where you eat well, drink well, laugh well, sit comfortably, get to blog and to marvel at this lovely city’s skyline, where you are warm and can bask in the company of a good friend and the enthusiasm of an energetic boy, where everything goes right except that the home team loses -

- this is what you get.  Now don’t get in my way.  I’m moping.

(I’m not really moping.  Jules told us to look sad because we were losing and the stadium was emptying out and the seagulls were blatantly scavenging among the sparsely-occupied seats.  But actually I had a great time.  When I mope, I tend to wear a lot of mardi gras beads and olive oil.  And not much else.  It’s the way of my people.  My shiny spangled mopey people.  Now you know why we don’t do family reunions.)

Heartbreaking.  Really.  Particularly the garlic fries.

What is that funky non-baseball-team-logo’ed cap you got on that bald pate?  I had you pegged as an Oakland Seals or Kansas City Monarchs hat kind of guy.  Oh, the utter disappointment!

You almost look as unhappy as Barry Bonds.

I LOVE THIS PHOTO!  Can’t wait to get invited to some formal moping though… I’m very fond of Mardi Gras beads and olive oil.

Ju: the fries were, technically, more heartburning than heartbreaking - but thanks for feeling my pain anyway.

Bill - yeah, I don’t like buying things with logos on them.  All my hats are logo-free.  It’s never been an issue because I never go to the ballpark - till recently.  Does it help that I was wearing a pair of Barry Bonds Boxers - for the base-clearing slugger in all of us? 

Scott: yeah, Barry was pissed that I got his shorts, but it was him or me.

And Mona: next time I am getting ready to mope, I’ll give you a buzz - bring some glitter, too, it sticks to the oil.

Awwwwww how cute! You’re probably one of those guys who can get his way simply by flashing the puppy dog eyes.

how can you mope so near beer?  although it is american beer, so i guess its just near-beer. :-)
